RÖTTER //ROOTS
an audio-visual project on the (imaginary) relationship to the physicality of landscape.

during the summer of 2019, my friend Anna and I were in Sweden exploring our relationship with the landscape of the country we don’t live in but still ’belong’ to (both being binational - half dutch, half swedish).

through taking double exposed photographs of her I tried to visualise how the landscape itself holds memories, feelings, identities of us that make us who we are. our being is interconnected with our surroundings in such a deep rooted way that even a simple stone or tree can awaken memories and a sense of belonging.
