is a product by Duizend Kleuren; a collective of 4 makers (Joy Brandsma, Max Jonker, Margot van der Sande and Elsa Groener)
The film takes us into the hidden past of the black queer community in the Netherlands. What connects us to the generations before us, and what can we learn from each other? In this film, young queer people of color meet the women of Stichting Mil Colores, which has been creating meeting places for women of different ethnic backgrounds and gender preferences since 2000. A story about identity, resilience and a history still in motion.
The Duizend Kleuren project poses the question: on whose shoulders do we, as the queer community, stand? With this project, we aim to show how essential it is to find each other in times of polarization. It is not just about learning from each other’s differences but also about drawing strength from what connects us. By organizing events where the documentary serves as a tool to spark conversations, we seek to strengthen and deepen these connections.
